What motivates a selfie?

What is a selfie? Okay, obviously I know what a selfie is, not born under a rock. To me the important question is why? Why do you selfie? Is there something to be gained from selfies all over the internet?

If you're in a cool spot and want to share it privately with a couple of friends...have fun. But to blast it out on the internet? Can't wrap my head around "Look at ME!"

@Ynotisay I mean I'm not them so unless I've walked a mile in their shoes I have no room to judge. Also enough of my own stuff to judge, but I also don't understand it completely. I mean to be fair I do love costumes and dressing up pictures, but that is more fantasy and magic. Whatever happened to mystery, intrigue, flirting nay I say courting!??....(; What will happen to body language, auro's and energies in this brave new technological communication?

@Ladyred It's not about any of that. It's about insecurity and needing validation. This is just a tool to serve that.
