What motivates a selfie?

What is a selfie? Okay, obviously I know what a selfie is, not born under a rock. To me the important question is why? Why do you selfie? Is there something to be gained from selfies all over the internet?

I take selfies on days I want to remember and actually feel pretty (which is rare). It’s a snapshot in time I can look back on my past self and remember fondly.
