Circumnavigating Tasmania. After Spending a day exploring Beauty Point and 2 nights we set off for Launceston. With the Tamar River on our left. We drive through Beaconsfield, Exeter, then we stop for a look at Grindelwald. A small town just north of Launceston, developed in the style of a Swiss village by Roelf Vos, a Dutch immigrant to Tasmania. The village of Grindelwald was established in the 1980's as a unique residential development. All houses in Grindelwald have been built in Swiss style, with wide eaves, flowerboxes, window shutters and balconies. The settlement is fringed with glassy lakes and views of the Tamar Valley.

Launceston is like most other small cities of 80,000 people. The main attraction, Cataract Gorge, 15 minute walk from the city centre, Offering Photo opportunities from the bridge as well as from the chairlift.

. Departing Launceston we travel through to the town of Painted Telegraph Poles, Lilydale. A small town overlooked by Mt Arthur. There is plenty to see here such as Hollybank Forest Reserve, which is an Arboretum with walking tracks, zip lining above the canopy at the Hollybank Treetop Adventures, Lilydale Falls Reserve,
My pick would be to Stop for Lunch at the Bridestowe Lavender Estate. The largest commercial Privately owned Plantation of French Lavender in the world. 260 acres, 650,000 plants. Full bloom is from December to early February.

I suggest overnighting at Bridport. A popular beachside holiday destination, famous for its white sandy beaches, coastal parks and bushland reserves. Book a room at the Platypus Park Country Retreat. Sit quietly beside the dam and you may be rewarded with seeing a Platypus or two.
If I was visiting Tasmania I would allow a minimum of 3 weeks to a month. So much to see and experience. Why visit such a unique Island and do nothing but drive through all the spectacular sights just to get to the next destination?.
You need a month, that's what I did. I could have taken longer. I will go back, reminds me a lil of NZ.

@KiwiBird That's the way i thought of it too, like a little NZ, both are two of my favourite places. I spent a month travelling around Tassie but i could have done two months easily. I think NZ needs a year lol.
@SW-User The rural post and batten fencing, hills and winding roads and the speeds you can safely travel, the flora and if you swap the road- kill tassie devils for possums you could be in either country...

Now I've visited Launceston, Exeter, Beaconsfield and even Grindelwald but I've never been to Tasmania.... 🤔
@SW-User When you do, you will know what places offer amazing experiences. As my three previous Tasmanian posts show. Tassie has so much to offer. Get yourself to the Island, down under the land down under.
@KiwiBird Yes. The SW should be safe but I know there are plans to log the Tarkine. Bastard Politicians should be imprisoned for at least 10 years if they let this happen
