I Am Not All About Music, I'm Mostly About Music

I had so much on my computer that it wouldn't fit on my hard rive so I had to get a 160 GB media drive for all of my music. Since I got about 6 years ago, it's now almost halfway full of music. I don't know what I'm gonna do once its eventually full. 馃槵

1TB of storage for just $55. About the size of a small notepad. $5 extra for the case.

@UndeadPrivateer even cheaper if you just buy the board and install it in your computer case for safekeeping. Not technically the best idea but pretty easy to do with little to no technical knowledge, a screwdriver and some hot glue

@AlphaPuppy Or just get an external enclosure and buy bare drives, which is what I do. But that's slightly more technical and less travel-safe than a properly encased and cushioned drive. Hard drives have a lot of moving internal parts that can get jarred out of place in travel.

@UndeadPrivateer I mean you can literally just unscrew one of your USB ports, push it into the tower, or plug it in externally and run the cable into the tower and glue the hard drive onto one of the panels.. Obviously a proper bodge job but it works, I've seen it done before

@AlphaPuppy Absolutely, just not ideal. External enclosures also make them somewhat travel-capable for if you want to bring some music or movies to a friend's place for something and you don't have to mess with trying to run cables inside your computer. Performing computer surgery is often a little intimidating to the average joe. :P If I want permanent storage then I'll just put them in the proper hard drive rack in my case.

@UndeadPrivateer I'm a total computer novice, I hate modern technology, but I'm also pretty good at bodging things and I pick up random knowledge all over the place without realising which comes in handy.

If I even owned a computer I would just get my brother to do it when he is back from uni, he's studying computing

@AlphaPuppy While it is intimidating, it's actually pretty stupid simple when it comes down to it. I think most of the intimidating aspects really come down to that messing up could end up costing a considerable sum of money in some cases. No one likes dumping a few hundred dollars down the drain because they fucked up on installing their new CPU.

@UndeadPrivateer I would never even attempt anything software related, but simple wiring is just that, besides most computer hardware is plug and play stuff these days
