I Can Drive a Stick Shift

I'd like to tell my story of how I learned to drive a stick shift. I was 16, and had just gotten my driver's license. I learned to drive in my dad's automatic Dodge. I worked part time in high school for a garden center in a rural area. They had an old truck with a four on the floor. They also had several acres of plant beds and supply piles with dirt roads running through them out back of the shop. I was at work with 2 or 3 other kids when the boss came over. He asked who had driver's licenses. I was the only one that did. He next asked if I could drive a stick shift. I told him no. He told me to load up the truck and take it out back and practice driving it. He said I had to make a delivery into the city in one hour! I learned.馃殮

Interesting - and quick learning on your part too. Manual drive or, as you call them, stick-shift cars are more common than automatics here in the UK and I have never owned an automatic car. The only times I have driven automatics for any distance is when I've been in America. Love your cars too. I had a Dodge Charger both times I was there.

Thanks for your reply, fazer. Unfortunately manual drive cars seems to be dying out here. Ford doesn't even make a full size pickup truck with a manual drive transmission anymore.
