I Have Hypothyroidism

Damn You Hashimoto... I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease back in 2005.  It took a long time because the doctor at the time told me it was normally a "womans disease!"

I have struggled with treatment for the last 6 years.  I am up to 175 Mcg of levothyroxine, and 25 mcg of cytomel.  My last blood test was pretty bad.  My T4's get higher and higher despite increasing meds.  I have had weight problems, mood problems, depression, periods where I sleep for 10-12 hours a day and still have no energy, and have experienced palpitations and heart flutters.  I keep hoping that I will get this under control.  It's really hard to get doctors and other medical professionals to take this problem seriously.  I haven't felt really well since 2005 and even earlier.  I guess finding a good doctor and treatment plan is kind of a crap shoot.  But the one I have now at least seems willing to listen to me more than previous doctors.  I just hope I don't get the auto immune issues that I keep hearing others get.  This is bad enough as it is!

I have heard that those with thyroid disease are more prone to certain types of Arthritis, Fybromyalgia, and Autoimmune Pernicious anemia. I had to look up the last one because I have just heard threats about anemia, but it apparently has it's own name. I have not had overwhelming success with my meds even though I have been on them for over 6 years. I'm still waiting for the "feel good" point to come.
