Sadly school uniforms are no longer anything like as smart as they used to be. School children used to know that their uniform could be checked at any time and there were often consequences of it was not worn smartly . For all of my teaching career regulation knickers were part of the school uniform. I think that is entirely appropriate for girls
times have changed we had to measure our skirts this way standing on our knees, 5 fingers=a hand breadth from the floor, no more/they checked we had blue knickers also if we were seen around town, we had to wear a blazer and tie or else! socks pulled up to the knees no make up and no cutex , they checked hair touching shoulders and longer, should be up in ponytails no lipgloss
I am in the same age group as yourself, but the children I see going to school these days seem far more identically dressed in their uniforms than I remember being. Although we had strict uniform rules everyone tried to circumvent the rules in anyway possible. The result being a similarity rather than a uniformity.
There are two uniforms for the girls at our school. Dresses for the younger girls, skirts and blazers for the older ones. All in our school colours of purple, gold and grey 😕 Thongs are definitely not allowed 🙄
I think in my country children do know what school uniform is. We wear it every day from age 3 til 18. We don’t wear boaters. But most people never did. Only the posh kids who went to expensive schools.
