@bookerdana but of course Joan Baez
@SW-User Whether it was Joan Baez(someone I crushed on in the 60s-she was a "looker" to this, then teen-but I digress) or others who did this song, it's one I feel those who sit in power with wealth, money and sway, have never stepped onto a battle field, but had/have no problem sending young men and women into harm's way as canon fodder for their agendas! I say this because I am a veteran!

@soar2newhighs yup I agree...and thank you for your service
I've been on sw too long already; I definitely didn't read that as 'poppy'.

Peace on earth and good will toward men. Oh wait that's Christmas. Why not women as well? 🤔 nice pic Lily ;)

when I was little the Vets would sell paper poppies on Memorial Day at the parade. My Grandpa always had one pinned to the visor in his car
@saragoodtimes I get one every year and I attach them to my refrigerator. Got a gaggle of them on the refrigerator door! As long as there are Veterans alive, and there will be for years to come, the poppy will be adorned on a lapel or elsewhere.

@soar2newhighs my Dad still has the service flag My Great Grandma flew in her window while my Grandpa served in WWII
@saragoodtimes I many American households and families these "patriotic" traditions remain, and hopefully will. My dad was a medic in WW2.

You're a wonderful woman, too many have forgotten.
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. / At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them." “The living owe it to those who no longer can speak to tell their story for them."

There will be no forgetting. I watched a movie yesterday, "Hacksaw Ridge" based on a true story from WWII. Good movie!
That is still done. Then remember, "In Flanders Fields" https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/47380/in-flanders-fields
