I Was a Teen Run Away

From about thirteen I had been thinking about who I was, and at age sixteen I took out my savings from my bank and bought an airline ticket from Verona to Tel Aviv, and I took myself home, my aliyah, and I stayed on the kibbutz I had been born on and finished my schooling before undergoing my national service in the IDF.

I didn't tell my parents when I left. They have their reasons for not wanting to stay in Israel, but I had my own destiny to fulfil and returning was the first step for me. When my parents were informed they were not scornful of my actions, but they reproached themselves to me because they had forgotten my feelings on leaving Israel when I was seven.
