I Do Not Understand Racist People

if your being tortured would you really be thinking about what race they are? there are billions of evil people in the world and some of them become leaders. some become famous leaders. i dont think it would make a difference if hitler was Asian. many people from many parts of the world have caused more pain and death than that guy. the trans Atlantic slave trade was around for like 2000 years. race didnt matter, your just on the loosing end of the spear. this is how nations were built in ancient times. it was just a way of life.
Greece was probably one of the first societies dependent on slavery. Historians say 1/3 to 1/2 of the population was slaves. That was about 500 to 300 BC. So for roughly 2500 years, +/-, slavery has been a 'legitimate' method of managing a work force.

That does not mean every day any slave was exploited, abused, and mistreated was not inhumane and degrading - both to the slave and the person who found it acceptable to 'own' another human being.

Mauritania in Africa did not outlaw slavery until 1981, but human rights activists estimate about 20% of the population is still enslaved although they don't publicly call it that.
@Mamapolo2016 Holy heck, I didn't realize the number was so high. Isn't Mauritania also where they think (culturally) that obesity is beautiful and girls are made to consume high quantities of fats to make them overweight so that they can marry rich?
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere I don't know about that. Could be.

Celestial Beings -- "hey let's create humans in different tones, they'd look so good!" ..

Humans -- "you a different tone, you bad"

Celestial Beings - "welp, we made a boo boo with that idea"
I don’t think people are as racist as you think they are. I think America is diverse and we’re all trying to coexist. That’s it.
@GuyWithOpinions I grew up in a community where racism was very bad. I haven't seen it as much since I've moved to where I currently live, but I've lived in five different states and racism has had a huge impact on every community I lived in until recently.
@Spoiledbrat I find that the things people are actually willing to risk saying, is just a fraction of what they are actually thinking.
Maybe but I don’t focus on it and I don’t feel bad for being me. I just think they’re being nasty and that’s it. We can all be nasty or mean . @CleverFunnyNameGoesHere

I rarely see racism, probably 100 to 1 people calling it out versus people being racist, but obviously as a whitey I defer to your perspective

Then I walked right into it yesterday 😞

True. Since people have been on Earth, there has always been wars. It would be naive to think it wlill ever stop. For all I know, we could be one-eyed purple eaters.

The transatlantic slave trade started in the 15th century (actually 1600-something), which is less than 500 years ago. But you do make a good point.
@GuyWithOpinions They have been around a very long time. I think they were quite common in Africa for thousands of years before the transatlantic slave trade began. And I know that Vikings used to capture people as slaves during raids on Britton and Europe.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere if you are plunged into a life of servitude against your own will or kept from you ability to find happiness, i believe is slavery. we have modern varieties we have just become a custom to because people dont work if they become aware of it. so they keep us focused on other things.
@GuyWithOpinions This is true.

@GuyWithOpinions You mean the trans Saharan slave trade? That was closer to 2000 years

@SW-User History repeats itself one way or another. It is a never-ending cycle.
