I Want to Work From Home

I've been working night shift at a fast food restaurant for the past 10 years, and just landed a job at a breakfast cafe. It's going to be hard to transition from night shift to morning shift, as well as keep both jobs. I had been trying to find a job working from home, but no one was perking up while I was putting in so many applications. There are a few things I need before getting started working from home, but some are kind of expensive. The money I have coming in from restaurants is not enough while there are certain bills to maintain. Does anyone have any advice to give me on how to deal with this? Restaurant work is definitely not what I want to do my entire life, but it seems as though I'm stuck in this never ending cycle...and since I have so much experience, restaurants are the only ones who want me right now.

I work from home, and have for about ten years, and couldn't imagine doing anything but. You STILL have to work and you STILL have responsibilities, but if you are a self-starter and see a decent salary, the payoffs are so worth it.

There are a lot more jobs hiring remote workers these days because it keeps their costs down. Often the employee doesn't see the same kind of benefit packages but as a restaurant employee you're probably not seeing much of that anyway.

An area you might shine in, because servers (if that's what you do) are usually bright and personable, is phone customer service. A lot of companies are bringing that work back to the U.S. because Americans get tired of trying to deal with foreign accents. Another which is a huge growth field is medical coding. You'll have to go to school in your spare time but once you get accredited you can make some grown up money and work from home.

Good luck.
