I lived in the Philippines for most of the 80's.... many of the people there used skin "bleachers" and still do. I have no idea why, other than to perhaps appear more like the Mestizos and Mestizas they saw on the TV variety shows that were aired there. To me....it was (as still is) a total turn-off.
