Why do people say 80s was the best time to grow up to me a kid/teenager?

It isn’t fair! I was born in late 2002. I saw a lot of comments about that and they said the 80s was the best time for music, fashion and whatever. Some people say, “For those of you who didn’t get to really experience the 80s....y’all really missed out!!! I felt bitter. Some people born in the late 80s said they envy those who got to experience the 80s. Even my sister who was born in 1987 said she even wished she sometimes experienced the 80s. My brother got to experience some of it and he was born in 1983. He’s so lucky. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s not my fault that I was born in 2002.

They are wearing Rose tinted shades. As a member of the graduating class of 1985, I can assure you I had the full range of the eighties experience.

You have to understand why the 80s was an interesting decade. These were the children born from The Summer of Love coming of age. Our parents were the boomers, who are either hippies or sellouts. This was the rise of the moral majority. This was the dawn of just say no. This was the birth of AIDS. Being openly gay was still a stigma or stereotype. Cable and fiber-optic communications were built for the first time. The evil empire was collapsing. The home video market was born, putting entertainment into your hands without permission of the three networks or movie distributors. Porn became something anybody could do. And humans came together to face crisises in new international ways (Band-Aid).

@GwydionFrost Why do I HAVE to understand. I’m tired of older folks telling me this. That sounds crazy anyways

@AutismGirl18 you're right. It was crazy. that's why I said they're wearing rose-tinted shades and remembering things fondly that really weren't the way it was.
