I Will Take As Many Words As I Want To Write This Story

I Love Francoise Hardy!!!---

Ok--on Ep I formed the group "i Love Francoise Hardy". I may have been the only one to post to it. But I posted a lot to it. The music I posted of hers on there got quite a few replies. Sadly this place never imported it, as they did a few other of my groups.

So I am taking it upon myself to post some of her music , here, in this group, which is one I CREATED! i had pleaded with SW admin time and again to bring it over and a few others that were dear to me. But that plea fell on deaf ears. Now I am waiting for my material to be imported. But that could be 2020.

I could say so much about Francoise- and her music. I could say how her music is sad, reflective, meaningful, pensive and slightly wistful of hope. But avid listeners already know that. To those who are not that kind of listener- yo are in foe a treat. Just give yourself a chance.

I could talk about how she is a French national Icon. And a living legend. Or how she has recorded in 5 decades- cultivating many styles and forms of music. From Jazz to Folk and Ye-ye to Easy Listening.

Or how she has been , and remains, an inspiration to many.

But I will not do that.

Not now. Not in this post.

In this post I want to share one of my fave songs of hers. An early song she did in 1962 and remains as sweet and fresh as it was then. Most of her songs of this time period revolved around love. Having none, losing it, wanting it, and the yearning for a perfect love. In a lot of way- her much of this time mirrors a lot of what we want today. And yearn for.

This song is about that yearning. And wanting. With a bit of a broken heart mixed in.

Enjoy

(as a side note- many will recognize a young Jimi Hendrix accompanying her in a some of her music.)

I don't know her music, but I can tell you she was one hot woman when she was younger!!!
OMG! She broke so many hearts when she was younger!! She was the object of fascination of so many hot blooded French, English and American men. As well as some women that loved her for more than her music. She was a model/actress/singer. But a singer came first. Her boyfriend , at the time, was her photographer- and when France saw her, Fashion houses were beating down her door to design for her. She has recorded in German, English and Italian- and one in Portuguese.

I love all of her music. And I am a bit new to it. But she, like one on EP, has got through some very hard times. She sings a lot of sorrow-and I can relate to that.

This is one that was HUGE in England (and France), But Gee! How the Brits ate this up! They had been trying to get Francoise and the French recording industry to release some of her songs in English for years. (Back then, a French recorded song could only be sold in French- and sung in French- she was one of three artists to be an exception to this rule.)

But enjoy- hopeless romantics the world over still love it.

@Elandra77: that face alone.... those lips!!! One could fall into that......

@Elandra77: Sweet voice to match!!!
@Ambroseguy80: I agree. I could also fal so easily...

But at 72, I still find her just as endearing. The French see maturity as sexy. As well as wisdom. Yes, those drop dead looks of her teens and 20's are gone. But she is as adorable in other ways.

@Elandra77: this is the first I have ever heard of her. Obviously you kept that group hidden very well at EP! 😉
I love her. I truly love her. SHE--I could marry. Even at 13 years age difference. But she already is. And it is a strange situation. She touches my heart in a way few singers can.

Iam not sure if her music was played in Canada in the 60's or 70's. Some was in the US. And the US DEMANDED more! Men, and women could have cared less what language she sang in. She, and Bridgett Bardot WERE the French sexpots of the era! (and Bardot also had quite a few LP's!)

I am not so sure it was hidden. I think by the time I started it a lot of those that used to follow me had let me behind. Moved on -or left the site. But ones the world over commented on some of the posts.

This-a lot deleted their comments as the site went down. And other deleted their accounts.

@Elandra77: I'm going to guess the group may have been created and posted to largely while I was on hiatus from EP
@Ambroseguy80: I would say that is a fair bet. If you go there. One lovely Canadian lady posts on all of the posts. She loved "Parlemi Di Te"--once I made HER aware of it. You are far from the first I have made aware of Francoise's music.
