Was it really? You were unhappy 5 years ago and you might be seeing things in a different light retrospectively. Nostalgia sometimes has a way of painting things better than they actually were.

@diablesse I think it’s because a lot of bad stuff has happened since then. I naively thought things would get better, not worse.

Everybody has parts of life that are just more difficult. Maybe this past 5 years was going to be difficult, no matter what I did.

The past 5 years might have been worse had you not done what you did. You can't know and you'll drive yourself crazy looking back. Hopefully the worst is now behind you and things will start getting better now.
