I Will Take As Many Words As I Want To Write This Story

Working with software developers and IT people is starting to turn me into a Luddite.

When I was a technical writer, it was OK because people didn’t expect me to know this stuff the way a developer or an admin would know it.

Now that my duties have changed, I feel like the dumbest person in the world. Everything people say to me sounds like gobbledygook. I’m beginning to wish I’d been an adult back in the days when computers were much less common.

Luddites of the world arise! Gather thee at the feet of our leader SmartKat. Resist the siren songs of acronyms, network jargon, Hypertext Markup Languages, embedded code and shared apps. Spread the gospel of COBOL.

@trackboy radios worked just fine on vaccum tubes in the 1920s and 30s. people enjoyed listening to fdr and his fireside chats on their radios. listen to walter winchell broadcasts of the german blitz on London from the roof tops over the radio in their homes.
