@SmartKat Maybe what hung me up was the "will not get better" part. If I don't stay the course, stay in the here and now, how will I know if it will get better or not? I do understand wanting to sometimes escape into a fantasy, but I am never able to stay there but for moments. I keep thinking if I don't get back to reality, I will miss something. Hopeful thinking maybe.

@frequentlyme If you’ve tried for several years to make things better by looking to the future and staying in reality....and things get worse, not better....it may be time for a strategic retreat.

@SmartKat I can see that, yes; but then if one retreats to resolve the reality of today, will that which one is retreating from change? Maybe, but likely not... for me anyway, I think a short retreat, while planning the change of my reality would be in order.
