I Am a Fashion Designer
This group is pretty sad. It's called "I am a fashion designer" not "I want to be a fashion designer"!... When I stumbled upon my 18th year of life, and had to decide my future, I went off to college to pursue a different degree. Although I was also interested in that subject, my heart would ache and yearn for the designing career that I had dreamed off ever since I was six years old. I went the 'safe route' because my parents told me to.
In the middle of my undergrad experience I couldn't take it any longer and I had to do what I was purposed to do. I began my own label and started selling on etsy. Soon after that, I began to expand offline as well, by traveling to different conventions in my state, and now all around the country. My brand is still establishing itself, and I have a long journey ahead of me, but the point is that I started it! I quit dreaming about what could be, or what I 'wanted' to do, and I actually did it. And now I'm a much more complete person because of it.
I hope this doesn't sound braggy. That's not my intention at all. I just know the struggle and the WANT so bad to do what you're passionate about, yet afraid to try. And I just hope more people in this group rise to the occasion - their life - and actually begin designing! Take a sewing class. Sell your clothes at a local boutique or on a beginner friendly online shop, like etsy. Experience! Live your life!
