Why is it called an "instruction MANual" when men never read them?

Not accurate, we read them *after* we broke the thing they're referred to. Or rarely if we fail at making it work, before causing damage.

It's the other way around in my household. My wife says it's my job to read them 🙄

As someone who writes instruction manuals for a living, I honestly have no idea.
