You need some real skunk remover to get the scent off. Soap and water don't work. If you can't find any this will work:

Mix 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon dish-washing liquid. This stuff will bind with the smelly molecules and neutralize the odour.

Tomato juice bath

Listen to count Scrufula…..tomato juice helps but wont cut it …..you will still stink for days...the peroxide, baking soda, soap works....have tried it both ways....

Yeah echoing the 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon dish-washing liquid solution. It may take repeated treatments but definitely works. You mix the ingredients in a bowl, put a dishrag in it and apply the stuff generously to all sprayed skin and hair, let it soak in for about 5 minutes for the chemicals to work, rinse off with really warm water so you can open your pores and let more spray sweat out, and repeat. Been doing that procedure for years and it's worked each time I've been sprayed as long as I'm really vigilant about it.

Tomato juice will almost certainly fail you. It's been shown in lab tests (including Mythbusters) to do next to nothing and people only thought it worked because of olfactory fatigue making them smell tomatoes over the skunk odor.

I barely avoided the same last night. A mother and four babies. I came within several feet of them on my walk and they all had their butts pointed at me.

You sound like you need to find a babysitter after you're done with the cleanup and spend about 2 hours deeply unconscious.....lol.

Get over to the pet store and buy some skunk smell remover for dogs. That stuff actually works.

If ya don't mind me asking out of curiosity, but how did you encounter the little stinker and get sprayed?

I heard that the only way to get rid of the smell is taking a bath in tomato juice... Good luck...

Definitely sounds like a bad night. Hopefully you've been able to get the smell out.
