This government shutdown has really shown how cold hearted some people in Washington can be towards those affected by the shutdown. With Kevin Hassett who is Trump's advisor suggesting in an interview on Thursday that the nearly 800,000 federal workers who aren’t getting paid are “better off” because they’re on an extended vacation.

That's not a vacation if you're struggling to pay for things such as rent, a house, bills, etc. I don't think Hassett or others in Washington would enjoy working with no pay.

All of the fed employees will get paid when the game is over. And Trump is just half of the game. The democrats are not even willing to negotiate.

@Budwick And yet you’re still replying.

@SW-User It's called manners, courtesy, etiquette - I try to teach by example so I don't have to embarrass dumbasses by explaining it directly like this.

I understand Autumn, you may not have been exposed to such things in your upbringing - certainly not from the progressive company you keep.

But, here's the thing, when someone, let's say you in this purely hypothetical example [a fictional example that can be used when a speaker is explaining a complicated topic that makes the most sense when it is put into more realistic or relatable terms.] - so, let's say you having been a total asswipe in your dishonest discussions were dismissed by yours truly. The thing that good people do is to tell the asswipe that they've been dismissed - cuz they may not be to bright.

It's just me being Budwick!

@Budwick I thought you said you were done replying?

Tell Nancy and Chuck that there IS a solution.
And, it will make the nation safer.

@Budwick What code? But when their visa expires do they become illegal. So...you just proved my point on why Trump’s wall wouldn’t work, again
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Actually poor Autumn, you've proven yourself to be willfully ignorant and unworthy of any further attention.
SW-User
@Budwick Well thanks for wasting your time. Especially since my post was centered on how people in Washington viewed those who are affected by the government shutdown and had nothing to do with the border wall. You should REALLY work on that attention span of yours and your facts next time around Budwick.

This is the perfect indication that our governments are not true democracies. Just to shutdown. My opinion is once you decide to work in any section of the government you cannot shutdown with the full agreement of your employers, and in a democracy your employers are the people.
My understanding is the whole lot of them went home for the weekend instead of staying and hashing it out like they care.

They don't know what it means to be in need of money desperately because you have to pay the rent. They are rich.

Why do you think Congress exempted themselves from pay freezes during such events?
