I'm starting my new job in a few weeks and I am TERRIFIED! Any advice?

I'm starting a job in a few weeks, my second one ever, and I am TERRIFIED! I'm mostly scared because I'm in introvert and people scare me and make me nervous, but also because I'm only 18 and my job has people over the age of 40. I feel like I'm going to be seen as a child! I. am. TERRIFIED! Someone help me get over this fear and help me feel better about this please!!!

Just be yourself. It will get better with time. The people there will know you are new and need nurturing, and will probably help and be nice. Just think of the older folks like you would your teachers, and I hope they are as patient.

I was in your shoes before, as I assume all of us were at some point. And now, 22 years later, I am one of the experts in the office. People come to me for help. And I help freely.

I am an introvert, too. Always have been, always will be. But it has gotten easier over time dealing with people. And I have earned their respect.

Best of luck!

If you are really that terrified - you should probably get some professional help on how to deal w/the anxiety. Your too young to be afraid of anything! You should be fearless! If that is not an option - face your fear. NOONE is better or smarter than anyone else....dress appropriately, stand tall, breath and go in there to do the job your paid to do. Watch out for traps, avoid creeps, etc...just function! And #1 - don't worry about what other people think! Be Here Now as the saying goes! Good luck! Kill it! :)

The workplace is all about getting the job done correctly.
It’s about knowing your responsibilities and how best to complete any work tasks assigned by your immediate boss.

It will probably take you a week to get up to speed on procedures and protocols. Another week to figure out whose who and what they do. But you’ll soon have it figured out
Yea my advice is dont be terrified if you are nervous and scared that will only make things worse

They will be delighted to have you. Just respond positively to their many approaches.

People over 40 are probably more mature and nicer. I'd prefer that.
