Being nonverbal at age 4 does not mean children with autism spectrum disorder will never speak. Research shows that most will learn to use words and nearly half will learn to speak fluently.

According to my mother, I've learned to read and write before I could even speak.

Also, I can read, write and speak in French, Spanish, German and Japanese.

Fun Fact: Albert Einstein didn't learn to speak until he was three years old and even then, he could only speak German.
