The Oxford vaccine

With news yesterday that ‘the Oxford vaccine’ is ready for the next phase of roll out, it appears we are closing in on a vaccine for CV. This will however be 90% effective, not 100% effective. It will take around 4 weeks for immunity to be in place after the first shot.

The worlds stock markets rocketed in response in the hope that fairly soon, a semblance of normality may return.

I’m wondering what people think of the potential vaccines - will you avoid them, will you be at the front of the queue, will you wait until other people have taken it to see whether it’s safe?

I will of course take a vaccine. Anyone in their right mind would take one.

That said, the Oxford vaccine as I understand it will necessitate two doses. In addition, must be stored in temps approaching -94 Celsius after a few days so the distribution must be extremely effective and cold storage facilities must be available.

There are few others a bit further down the production line that do not appear to have this issue. In addition, no vaccine is 100% effective.

@luckranger71 yep. In the headlines today. I’ll be waiting. But refrigeration isn’t the reason. I suppose it’s a concern due to some laborers lacking integrity, and neither humans nor tech is perfect. But we must live life expecting the best from others. Hoping our body would not react badly to a vaccine for a even worse disease. But yeah there’s always that learning and testing curve I’d rather get past.

That’s why the worlds stock markets reacted so positively- at a 90% effective rate, life can return to some semblance of normality as long as people take the vaccine. @waleskinder

@waleskinder 🤔....90% is good for Company Stock Prices too...

Sadly I’m too scared! It’s so weird because, the other half of me is tired, I’m over 50 and bored, so why not? Because I have a daughter and family that say they don’t want to lose me. I mostly would not want to disappoint them? Then I wonder if secretly it’s true, I don’t want to die. I’m not avoiding it for them. It’s because I love myself and I’m afraid of dying.

Yeah, so, well, you asked. I’ll be waiting.
