I'm not into cutsy pie kind of gifts yet I have two friends, one a man and one woman, that will always bring me a stuffed toy. I could understand it if it was meant as a joke but they both are serious and think I'll love it. Maybe I should tear it up and throw it into their faces when they give it to me? I'm not sure how else to get the point across because they don't listen.

It comes from a childhood place. Women as children are given soft, safe toys to cuddle. Calms fears at night. And the softness is what girls bring to relationships as women.
