I Think the United States Should Switch to the Metric System

Only because everyone else uses it. It feels one of the many of things that the United States, for all of our boasting about being the greatest in the world, is still a little bit behind on several things. 😑 But yeah, the metric system. Let's do it already.

@BlueRain I was illustrating a point. This post isn't even a question, you idiot. 🙄
BlueRain · F
@Carver I’m the idiot!! You are pathetic. Lol 😂
Carver · 31-35, F
@BlueRain Well, you are. 🤷‍♀️

Good luck. People are dug in on this one. And our stupid system of measures costs us so much economically too, but they don't care. 🙄
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 Do it in millimeters, much more impressive. 1562.5 mm 😂😂😂

@KiwiBird 😤

Who cares who uses it? The US should keep what they have.

Hear, hear! Who the hell could be against base 10?
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
I heard that the reason you didn't move from mph to kmph was a cost thing, changing all the road signs. IDK. Metric makes sense and the math easier. Do you still use chains and links in linear measurement?
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@KiwiBird I think the mistake made was they made it voluntary.. End result two systems operating in parallel... And a few aircraft incidents of insufficient fuel as one of the results
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@ozgirl512 That might be awkward a plane running out of fuel. Almost laughable...apart from potential loss of life.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@KiwiBird the was one famous incident of a dc10 landing, it should I say gliding, into a disused airfield which at the time was being used for a drag car meeting ....

When I was a child, we were taught metric system in school and told we had to learn it because soon everyone would be using that method. That never happened.

They already made plans to do precisely that decades ago but the luddites held sway and scuppered any chance of them ever doing it.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
our academics already use it, I don't see how changing the average standard is a benefit after knowing that

Nah, I think standard is better. You can cleanly divide 12 by 2 and 3.

Time to take out the trash. You are blocked. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Carver · 31-35, F
@BlueRain Good, keep me blocked this time. I don't like your dumb ass anyway.
