I Was Caned On The Hands In School

There seems to be a perception that girls received less corporal punishment at school than boys. Having taught in the era when corporal punishment was widespread and having chatted to many people on here, I am not sure that is actually true. However, I am sure there were some schools where boys received corporal punishment and girls did not. Personally I cannot see any reason at all for treating girls more leniently than boys. Girls benefit from firm discipline just as much as their male classmates.

I was in an all girl school. Everybody got the slipper and some unlucky ones got the cane. I have never been caned on my hands.

@Petra1960: I don't think the cane is suitable for use on the hands. The hands are too fragile.

@Petra1960: the ruler on the palms is much safer. I rarely punished the palm at all bit when I did it was usually with a wooden ruler

@Petra1960: the cane is a very serious punishment and should be used sparingly in my view.

@Petra1960 The lady teachers in my school could really use the slipper as well. Our headmistress was very proficient with her cane as well.
