What caused the recent rapid drop in American covid?

Well, the decline in COVID-19 cases started on the 10th, so it shouldn't be that. The vaccine is probably playing a role, but IDK if it can account for all of it because the drop has been enormous. I kind of wonder if there've been some state laws passed in January that were effective in slowing the spread. I also kinda imagine that New Years celebrations ending put a damper on the virus's spread but that's extremely speculative, of course.

@BlueVeins I also suspect that the vaccine has little to do with it. With distribution being slow and requiring two shots it seems very unlikely to have played a significant role. My doctor advises against taking it.

@SW-User I mean, in some states significant chunks of the population -- 5.7% in West Virginia -- are fully vaccinated, presumably the most high-risk ppl like healthcare workers. I imagine the vaccine must've had a significant impact, I just don't think it's the main culprit
