List 'buffet' items for a gathering of family and friends?

Finger sandwiches like tuna and chicken salad, cheese and deli platter, fruit platter, salad, veggie platter with dip, lasagna, mac and cheese, chicken type entree with ziti, cookie platter, mini pastry platter.

These were the items served at my friend's baby shower, and all were great and Was served buffet style ...I was not hungry after that gathering!!

Once upon a time this would've been typical -

Tossed salad
Baked beans
Potato and/or macaroni salad
Meatballs in sauce
Cold cuts & rolls
Pickled/deviled eggs
Baked corn supreme
Relish tray - olives, pickles
Chicken in some form
Meatloaf

Today it's easier to send everybody $10 and tell them to bring what they'll eat!

hmm, what would I serve for a large buffet gathering?

-veggie crudite platter with Hidden Valley Ranch dressing for dipping (celery sticks carrot sticks cauliflower florets and cucumber sticks)

-deli meat and cheese tray and rolls (capicola, buffalo chicken, smoked turkey, swiss, provolone)

-deviled egg platter

-chicken "fingers" and french fries (for any kids that might be there)

-baked mac n cheese

-tortellini with pesto sauce and olives

-olive oil sauteed greens with garlic (kale or broccolini)

-barbecued beef on a stick

-potato salad or scalloped potatoes depending on the season

-three bean salad

-garden salad

-soda and diet soda and ice teas sweet and unsweetened, coffee

-fresh fruit cubes (watermelon cantaloupe pineapple grapes)

-cookie platter

Aubergine dip
Loaded potato skin
Salad
Baked macaroni
Random stuff the kids will eat

Barbecue chicken, onion burgers, beef jalapeño hot links
