Have you ever lost a friendship?

Someone I used to be extremely close to is a stranger now. Hurtful comments were said by them... more than once. Their idea of the world in general clashes with mine. They ignored my boundaries and concerns, even gaslighting me at times. I was hopeful we could always be friends although we talk less and less over time making me feel my choice to move on was a positive one. It stings yet I don't want to force a friendship or burn my mental health in the process simply to have someone near.

Yeah, I have. Just remember bud, you're better off without them and if they came back, you'd shut the door in their face. 💗
Yes... I've had two people that I was closest to just up and leave overnight - no real reason that I could understand or anything... just *poof* Gone after two years of daily conversation.

I lost a lot of “friends” at one point in my life. It’s far better to have fewer real friends than a lot of friends when it’s convenient.

I've lost friendships.
And that one you describe sounds like it is okay to lose. I'm sorry though, I know it hurts.

Yes.. over the past 1-1/2 years, I’ve lost 2 once very close friendships..
Broke my heart to say the least

Yeah... But I realized later that they were toxic to me and it was for the best.

Sure...it’s painful but at times it’s necessary and for the best.

Yup it hurts....like I always say, "its better to lead than follow".

Some I've known for 20 years until the last straw was drawn. Thats when I finally stood my ground and dumped them.

More often I’ve discovered someone was not as good a friend as I’d previously thought. 🥺

That sounds like this situation, unfortunately.
