Cleaning my apartment paid off!

My new landlord, with 2 days notice tricked tenants into letting their apartments be inspected. I spent the whole time cleaning everything from the oven to the blinds. When the inspection team came in they videoed absolutely everything- including the inside of cupboards and drawers. Three apartments are being evicted for uncleanliness in this scourge, but I scored 10/10. Anyway, the other two bedroom like mine is now listed $700 higher than what I'm paying. The prices have really skyrocketed around here. Whew!

They can evict for that, even during the pandemic ? Where is this ?

@bijouxbroussard Up north. You have to keep your place clean. It's a standard rental agreement clause.

Added: I believe there were other issues with these tenants, like an extra person or excessive noise.

@SW-User Perhaps so. Here, for one thing they couldn’t videotape anything without your consent, it would be considered an invasion of your privacy. And in various cities, there’s been a moratorium on evictions in general unless someone’s using the property for illegal purpose; to sell drugs, as a brothel, etc. There are many people who haven’t paid their rent in about a year now. I do have a bit of dust and some clutter (books, yarn, etc) but the rent is paid every 1st (usually earlier).
