I Am Miserable

My wife has been out of work for two years due to mental illness issues. She finally started her return to work, and it has been going better than we ever could have hoped.

Last she went into a kind of a cold trance and made it clear if left alone she'd kill herself, and spent a while talking about the ways. I have not slept as I forced myself to stay awake all night to periodically check on her to make sure she didn't hurt herself.

The episode passed and she's now asleep and doing okay. So everything is okay there. Meanwhile, I'm a goddamn wreck, can't focus on anything, and am currently trying to stay awake for a job where because of changes in management I literally have nothing to do for a couple of weeks.

So sorry. Loving someone with a mental illness is very draining in every way. I have a sister who’s attempted suicide multiple times...I imagine it’s even harder when it’s your spouse.

I'm glad she is finally asleep. Please consider professional counseling for her

@DanielChristensen We have the whole kit & kaboodle. An excellent therapist I'm sending regular updates to, a good back to work rehab specialist, and psychiatrist. We'd be fucked without them and when she first got really sick it was really bad because we didn't have good help.

This is just a bump in the road - the trend is still up and she's doing so well. But man, a very shitty bump.

@CountScrofula I hear you. You're hanging tough
