I Am a Survivor of Domestic Violence

Female abuse of men is very much under-reported, partly because the police refuse to accept reports from male victims.

My husband was repeatedly beaten by his first wife, often needing hospital treatment for his injuries, but the police refused to take ay action against her. They told him it was a civil matter or that there were no witnesses. When there were witnesses, they claimed they were his friends so couldn't be witnesses.

The sexist scumbags were quick enough to arrest him when she took a drunken swing at him, missed and fell over slightly hurting herself. The police even tried to get the witnesses to say he had attacked her!

All the independent, peer reviewed academic studies of domestic abuse show that female on male abuse is at least as prevalent as male on female. Approximately 30% - 40% of domestic abuse related deaths are women killing a male partner.

I've been called a misogynist for saying that. :)
"Peer reviewed" ?

@bijouxbroussard: Academic studies reviewed by other academics qualified in the same field (peers) to check methodology etc. It's a process by which findings are validated.

The reports from organizations such as Refuge that show women are the overwhelming majority of victims are not peer reviewed so are basically worthless other than as propaganda.
@Caroline259: Law enforcement, too ?

@Caroline259: So does that also apply to the coroners ? The number of bodies don't lie.

@bijouxbroussard: Some so-called studies are based on police arrest figures. As the police rarely arrest women for domestic abuse, those studies do show the majority of domestic abuse arrests are of men. That's then used as evidence that only men commit domestic abuse.

You're right about the number of bodies not lying. That's why the police have to do something when a woman kills her victim. They down-play it by calling it manslaughter rather than murder. They also say they attended several incidents at the home, implying that the victim was really the abuser. The defence team doesn't want to question that of course.
To what end ?
Caroline259 · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard: Murder carries a minimum sentence of life imprisonment. If she's only convicted of manslaughter a lesser sentence can be passed. If she's lucky, she might even get off with self-defence.
@Caroline259: I understand the benefit to her. I was asking why the establishment would go to such lengths for women ? But I do understand you are talking about white women. Women of color don't get any particular breaks. We never have.

@bijouxbroussard: My apologies, I was unintentionally being racist. You are right, I was only thinking about white women. Non-white women and non-white men are treated equally badly. :(

@Caroline259: I've been threatened with physical assault and rape by a Feminazi who posts as a man for daring to say men can be victims of domestic violence.

@suzie1960: A misandrist idiot tried claiming I was the same person as another poster because we both got the cane st school for smoking (not an uncommon event in those days) and we both speak the same language!

That was the best she could do to counter the points I made.
Caroline259 · 56-60, F
@suzie1960: I'm sorry to hear that. It just goes to show that women can be violent.
Caroline259 · 56-60, F
@Sharon: LOL! I got the cane at school for smoking too. It was the standard punishment for that offence. We both speak English as well! Oh dear, that must mean you and I are the same person. :)

@Caroline259: We must be several thousand other people too!
