I cannot agree with that. Depression is not rest, it's an unwanted burden. A heavy dark cloud that descends on you when it pleases. It leaves eventually when it pleases but it will always return. Rest it is not. That sounds like some kind of indoctrination coming out of your radio.
@TopCat from your writing here, I can't tell that you're dyslexic. It's not easy to walk out from the shadows, yes. But I think where there's a will, there's a way. Hope you feel better.

@Cierzo understand. Maybe what she means is when life throws things at us and gets us down, we need to withdraw a bit. But we must not forget to walk out into the sun again. Depression as an illness can be very debilitating. No doubt about that.
I once searched for information about depression too when I was depressed. The website said something similar. It said depression is necessary sometimes because it s the only time you stop going forward, being alone, and take the time to think about your new direction.
