In the 6os stockings were giving way to tights, because skirts and dresses were becoming shorter, so you were less likely to see stocking tops then.

However, when I was about 13 or 14, I do recall seeing pictures in my older brothers magazines, showing ladies wearing stockings with suspenders. I found these very appealing, I think it was the contrast between stockings,bare thighs and suspenders. To this day, I still like the look of stockings and suspenders on a nice pair of female legs.
