Takashi started out making what's called V Cinema, straight to video movies. With Shinjuku being the 1st theatrically released. This trilogy isn't an ongoing narrative, but a shared theme of culture clashes between Taiwanese and Japanese gangs. You get a nice strong 90's vibe with these films, some gratuitous content, as any Miike fan will attest. I am cautiously watching at an increased volume too.
As i go through these 3 films tonight i may pause and add something to my post, but probably not taking pictures like i did the other night with Fellini.
In this Arrow Video release it has the non Japanese dialogue in brackets. After this run through, i will then be able to sink my teeth into the not so many extras.
