Now for a huge one, i might alternate from modern to classic in this director series of mine.
Bergman was of the first group of directors i began collecting in 2005, the massive Blu-ray set pictured in the middle below is what caused me to get a Blu-ray player in November last year, just tonight i enjoyed a new to me thing a montage of behind the scenes footage, soooo good.
I also have a bunch of books by and on Ingmar, as a few months ago i thought i'd study him and be a Bergman expert, maybe later, more important however is to enjoy his films, he was a consummate professional who didn't start off strong, didn't always make a home run but always pushing himself and those he worked with, and very very few have made as many masterpieces as he did. Tonight i'm enjoying one of his earlier triumphs Summer With Monika, he sorta ruled the 50's, ya know??!! There are still some titles missing in my IB collection, hopefully they'll become available before i croak, but even if not, what i have is actually good enough, one of the most extraordinary bodies of work, i give you all Ingmar Bergman.
