I Am An Atheist

I grew up catholic, but my parents were type of people that let me form my own opinions as I grew older.
I strayed away from religion when I realized I never truly believed in a god, and I only played along to make my parents happy.

They know I’m an atheist, and they couldn’t care less. I honestly aspire to be like them, not enforcing my beliefs or lack of thereof onto others simply because I believe it’s correct.

Have to tried Spirituality?

I tried to do the same thing for my son. I didn't want him to be brainwashed at an early age, and I wanted him to make up his own mind about things.

Unfortunately, I worry that I may have made the wrong decision. He told me the last time I saw him that he believes in a higher power...but doesn't think he is a Christian.

AND he told me that he hates PEOPLE...in general. I should have tried to give him more guidance.

@4meAndyou People don't realize that being an atheist or agnostic it itself submitting to a form of brainwashing. It's not just people who accept God being brainwashed, it's possible to reject God and be brainwashed.

That's fine with me. You can believe or disbelieve anything you like- just don't ridicule my beliefs.

What makes you an atheist as opposed to an agnostic? You're not open to the possibility of a god at all? You don't believe that god created the universe?

No I’m not open to the possibility of god at all, neither do I believe the universe was created by an entity.
I think that religion was created to explain things that in ancient times were unexplainable.
Now, in modern times we have advanced in science, and have somewhat an explanation to a lot of things, and we continue to find the answer to a lot of the questions we’ve had for millions of years.

But, assuming that there’s a possibility that I am wrong, I’ve read the Bible before, and I don’t agree with a lot of things in it. Even if god did exist, I doubt I’d worship him.

@KatherineR So when Jesus started his Church and the apostles forgave sins in his name and preached the Gosepl, was it all lies, in your opinion? Were Jesus and the Apostles liars or full of shit?
