I Had Surgery

I just looked up my insurance Explanation of Benefits.

Surgery and one night in the hospital they billed $40,000.

This is what it's like to get sick in the US. And this is only one bill.

it will be reduced. Hospitals have contracts with the carriers. It will get knocked down substantially.

@akindheart I know. I'm still paying on my surgery from December. Just feeling a little defeated.

@abooklover believe me i know. i had 2 surgeries and then MRSA. i almost went bankrupt. the meds alone for MRSA were from 900-4000 and there was no coverage under my plan. they decided to pay for the meds because nothing else would work.

@abooklover my plan was the free one from work. i upped it last year so i only pay 20% not 50% (thank you!!)
