I Think The Cane Should Be Bought Back Into The School System

I used to but I know this will never happen. We accepted it as the norm.

No chance....barbaric punishment.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Why barbaric?
@MartinII Corporal punishment for prisoners was abolished in most advanced nations because it was judged "barbaric" (Brutal or cruel). By that definition, only barbarians would inflict it on children.

@bijouxbroussard Personally, I would be in favour of moderate corporal punishment for adults. In any case, you don’t explain why YOU think it’s barbaric.
@MartinII I’m not a fan of hitting children. I believe it teaches them that if you’re bigger and stronger than someone you have the right to use violence to get them to do what you want. Not a good lesson for discouraging bullying.

@MartinII With "barbaric" defined as "brutal or cruel", violence against a child (and hitting them is violence) would qualify. Our 8th Amendment prohibits corporal punishments in prisons as "cruel and unusual". So if that’s been determined with adult convicts, how can it be otherwise with children ?
@MartinII the cane causes welts and bruising.....designed to cause temporary injury.Totally unacceptable.
