don't know how to feel about this...

OMG, my ex (we divorced over 20 years ago) is texting me saying how happy she was when we were together, how unique and special I was/am, etc... She's on a emotional roll... (she remarried soon after we divorced...) Says she wished to go back in time, relive those happy days... (just a wish, she doesn't mean she wants to get back with me or anything, which is fine...)
👀
Danger...DANGER.... WILL ROBINSON.....
Oh man, exes can be tough when they choose to be.
Do what’s best for you.

I think you handled it right. I have been divorced and I think you wonder if things could have been handled better but it is over. When I met with my ex after talking an hour I could see the things that pushed us apart were still there.

Ah, bit of a mid-life crisis romancing the past.

Not to say that both of you aren't very special and unique people, or that you never had any good times. I'm sure it was the best, at one time.

@SW-User Fleetwood Mac... All that drama and cheating and jealousy among the band members when the Rumours album was produced (stuff of legend) seemed so remote and foreign to us back then... But it's just life, stuff happens...
My favourite Fleetwood Mac song at the time was "As long as you follow", btw, so romantic...
🤷‍♂️

She’s looking for emotional support. Just remember what role you’ve played in that regard.
drymer · 56-60, M
@AbusedNeglected Agreed, yes.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
It’s nice she has fond memories and isn’t bitter, quite sweet really. Enjoy
drymer · 56-60, M
@GJOFJ3 It's true... So many relationships end up with so much hatred and hard feelings... It's like adding offense to injury... Stuff happen. I sort of was relieved that the break up was not "my fault" so I didn't need to feel guilty about it (like she does...)
Who initiated the divorce?
drymer · 56-60, M
@BeefySenpie She "felt in love" for a guy and they decided they wanted to get married. Then she blamed her post-partum depression for messing up with her emotions etc. (could be, yes). I felt like I was the only sane person while they thought they were meant for each other (he was exiting a marriage from hell...) Oh well, no hard feelings. A learning experience, about the fragility of "love" and stuff...
@drymer So she left you but now misses what a great person you were? Wow 😡
drymer · 56-60, M
@BeefySenpie 😁 I'm not surprised at all... And at least SOMEONE thinks I'm worth something, lol...

Been on the liquor/wine? Sounds maudlin.
drymer · 56-60, M
@novaguy2u Perhaps wine is involved, yes.... 😁🍷

How's the PTSD?
drymer · 56-60, M
@Tastyfrzz No PTSD, or so I think...
I think thats sweet
drymer · 56-60, M
@DarlingSelah To be fair, it is, yes... Remembering all innocent years full of hope for the future etc...
I wouldn't reply.
She's putting out feelers .

Be careful

She's unhappy in her marriage and wants to come back
drymer · 56-60, M
@SkeetSkeet She knows it's too late for that. I guess she misses the feeling of believing that happiness was within reach. Now we know that's not quite possible.

Ugh...delete that shit and move on
drymer · 56-60, M
@TheLordOfHell Emotionally, is all archived. We have a daughter so it's not really possible to severe all links, but that's OK... Like I said, I learned A LOT from the experience... About feelings, about "love", about psychology... All very enlightening, although I have to admit it all has made me very skeptic of relationships and such (I've been living on my own ever since...)
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I wouldn’t reply to that.
drymer · 56-60, M
@iamonfire696 it's OK, we decided to remain on friendly terms after the divorce for the sake of our daughter... After so many years I almost had forgotten we were once "a happily married couple"... I basically replied "yes, it was a good time, but that's all in the past and not coming back", or something to that effect...
😐
