- When someone tried to kidnap my baby 20 years ago
- When someone has attacked me 20 years ago and I thought I had to die

I honestly can´t say which of those two situations was scarier. 🤔
@Loretta78 OMG, this is terrible. I hope the person was held accountable and never came near you again and couldn't cause you any more harm.

@RobinPhoenix You even don´t want to know HOW CLOSE this person was still weeks and even months to me (I mean the person who tried to kidnap my son). 😐

But thank goodness my son is an adult now and I don´t have to protect him anymore!
@Loretta78 those are both truly scary things!! I’m sorry they happened to you and glad nothing happened to your son!

@DecafD Me too!
@Loretta78 It sounds like the would-be kidnapper and attacker was a close person and that makes it worse in my opinion.

I know that one of the biggest fears a parent can have is not being able to protect their child. I'm glad your son came through everything okay. He was -hopefully- too small to consciously witness the whole thing, unlike you

@RobinPhoenix The would-be-kidnapper was a friend of my husband (now: former husband). And of course neither the would-be-kidnapper nor my husband were not held accountable for anything.

Well, certainly my son was too small to consciously witness the whole thing. But sometimes I am wondering what there might be left unconsciously because my son had to bear so much violence in this moment and cried in fear of death how I never in my life have heard crying a child like this - so sometimes I am really wondering that this thing might have left traces unconsciously with my son.

But well, nevertheless my son is a good, strong man today, and I am indeed very happy that after 18 years alone educating I could finally give away my responsibility. It was indeed a BIG release for me!
@Loretta78.What a shame for the German legal system, which often, or rather too often, protects the perpetrators instead of their victims.

This sounds cruel, both for your son and for you, who had to listen to his crying without being able to help him.

The years until he came of age must have cost you a lot of strength, so it's reassuring to read you both made it, now you can relax while being proud of what you have accomplished together with him.

@RobinPhoenix You are wrong. This hasn´t happened in Germany. All this has happened in Belgium. And well: I didn´t go to the police for some VERY GOOD reasons.

Well, I am very happy that now everything is over. It is a nice feeling to relax with my son. And I know I could get ill now or even die, and it wouldn´t matter because he is an adult now. 🙂
@Loretta78 Since I don't know the details of your experiences, I could only go by what I knew of you so far, which was obviously not enough to properly assess what you said here.

I understand what you mean: it's a good feeling not being responsible anymore.
