I Am On Methadone
Well I just finished my 3rd full day being on my new lowered dose. For those of you who haven't been focused of drugs for years, the 3 days makes a difference because that's how long the drug remains in your system. If you lower your daily dose then it actually kind of hits you 3x with the withdrawal symptoms - each day getting a bit worse.
But now I just started day 4 and so I'm good to go! Down to a measly 7mg a day, which is like some miniscule amount of my original LEVELED dose - which was something like 115mg; I do not recall distinctly.
I also got incredibly sick when I leveled to that dose. My usual dose of morphine prior to joining to the clinic was a minimum of 500mg a day, and if I had the extra funds it could easily be over 1000mg (which I know is actually just 1gram!) and I would be in no way concerned about overdosing.
But I knew I had to get on the methadone exclusively if I was ever going to make it to becoming clean again. It's been a multi year battle.
I have been reducing my dose, voluntarily, at a fairly steady rate and I'm a bit nervous about being at the finish line.
It will be good though. Hard to see a downside to not having to put up with all this crap.
If you know someone suffering from opiates please tell them this works.
