I Love Cooking For People I Love
Rather than get inspiration for my cooking I do find cookery programmes inspiring and relaxing to the point of therapeutic.
Over the years in the UK I have watched Delia Smith. I once read a journalist criticize her for cookery by numbers( like the painting booklets for kids where a particular number invited you to use a certain colour). To my mind she is completely the opposite. She would always explain where something was crucial and at other times where something didn't matter too much. Many recipes invite you to slavishly follow a list of instructions without allowing any thought on your part.
I also enjoy Nigella. Who would have thought that a man in Mrs Thatcher's cabinet would have produced someone like her.
My greatest enjoyment comes from watching somebody who is sadly dead. Yes Keith Floyd. He introduced the idea of cooking on location and carried it off with aplomb. I can watch him on YouTube over and over again.
