I Love Cooking For People I Love

Unplanned can be the best.

As I was getting ready to leave the hospital after my shift I spoke to some of my co-workers and found that three of the ladies were alone tonight and one of our male nurses did not have any plans. So we hatched the idea to all come over to my place for an impromptu dinner.

It is cloudy and dreary but not raining yet so we walked over to my apartment and stopped at a deli-grocery store on the way. The plan was each of us was going to buy something for dinner but not tell the others what it was until we got home. We divided up each with task to buy something (entrée, main dish, dessert, etc.) and met up outside and came to my place.

We had the most lovely dinner and the most wonderful time we could. We had spring roll appetizers, crab cakes, excellent mac and cheese, parmesan spinach and pasta salad, and some great cheesecake for dessert.

Sat around afterwards talking and drinking wine (with my cat becoming the center of attention) and as we broke up we all felt it was an incredible way to end the week.

Sometimes the best things are those that aren’t planned to happen.
