I Work In An Office

After working for a company that requires more or less formal dress code I suddenly realized that it gives me certain pleasures to buy and wear good clothes.
What bothers me is that somehow I feel like a shallow person when I'm buying yet another shirt.
Is there a way to justify my shopping habits?

Well you have a couple of options.

Stick with it
Grow you hair long with a big bushy beard and don't iron your shirts (see what happens)
Look for another job with a less formal dress code

@Ironicman hmmm... I haven't tried the #2 yet....

I get where you are. 30 years of shirt and ties for me. It does my head in but at least we don't have to worry too much about what to wear. @har7070

@Ironicman the inflation of ones taste is inevitable. How do you stop yourself from buying a $5K Armany suit? It's so easy to rationalize.

I worked in an office setting for 8 years and I was ALWAYS in trouble for not dressing appropriately

@Fernie that's true, I've got to look on par with the other guys there, or everyone will consider me a cheap slob :-)

just tell yourself you have to do it for work
har7070 · 51-55, M
@pearllederman yes, that'd work, as long as the clothes still fit into my closet :-)

Yes. You’re trying out a new look.

@MURD3RM0NK3Y and for some reason I'm liking it!

It's an investment for your career.

@SW-User where's the fine line between an investor and a shopaholic? 😆
