I don't know how to ask him out.

So, I have this guy friend who I like and he likes me. I want to ask him out but I am scared to because of the age difference. I'm 19, almost 20, and he is 34. My parents don't know about him. We have been seeing each other in private. I don't know why I'm scared and feel like he will reject me. I feel ugly and stupid. What do I do?

Stop feeling ugly and stupid. If you really were those things, then he wouldn’t like you so we know that’s not true. Have you ever brought up other couples with age gaps to see your parents reaction? They may like him bc he’s older and a little more established.

@DecafD I never have because they're very judgemental.

@fluteacorn well if you still live with them, then this may be hard. If you have your own place, then you can place emphasis that you’re an adult and this is not their decision or life. Do you need to bring him up right now or this isn’t so serious yet?

@DecafD I would say we aren't really serious yet. We are going on a date in a few hours though.
