Boycott Home Depot!!! The co-founder gave $7m to help elect trump in '16 & plans to do the same in '20!! It won't be with my money! Hopefully you will all boycott Home Depot! We need to regain decency in our country!! Thank you!
The only people or organizations who still support him are those who support white supremacy. So I definitely won’t knowingly fund that. Thanks for the info.
Trump was speaking on border security. That’s the speech you referenced. You also mentioned xenophobia. So it is perfectly logical to assume from your hatred of Trump that you’re a Democrat. Dems want an open border. That’d be you. @QuixoticSoul
@Native I am not a democrat. But they don't want open borders either, you're just thoroughly lost in the spin.
You can claim border security all you want, but that particular statement is crafted to demonstrate and appeal to extreme xenophobia, and there is no sane way to even pretend it's anything else. And it's precisely the "and some, I assume, are good people" bit that puts it right over the top.
The build up is totally mundane sort of fear mongering that we've heard for decades, but he's the first really mainstream political figure to blatantly imply that most Mexicans are criminals and rapists. It's delusional, of course, but it played well with the certain crowd.
Which is why hardly anyone ever excludes it, it would strip the entire statement of its bite, kafkaesque-levels of absurdity, viciousness, panache, audaciousness, etc - whatever you want to call it. Without it, it simply becomes conventional yawnfest yadda yadda.
Here, do an experiment - search Google News for "And some, I assume, are good people", with the quotes - you'll see that it's referenced a lot, and frequently, by everyone. Far cry from being "ignored".
You’re not a Democrat? So what are you? You’re the one that is lost. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. You’ve fallen for the bait of the left. Educate yourself on each sides immigration policies and what each side has already voted against. You will see who is responsible for the current situation at the border. @QuixoticSoul
Bernie Marcus may have picked the wrong guy to support but we all have our flaws. But he is a philanthropist who has donated $2 billion to charities already, and earmarking 80% to 90% of his wealth to philanthropy when he dies.
He joins Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong and others who has committed to giving the majority of their wealth to the philanthropic causes and charitable organizations during their lifetimes or after their deaths.
Trump is a billionaire and if he joins this fine group of men, I will bite my tongue and say Trump is an honorable man. I dare him.
What good will that do?!?!?! You know who it hurts?? Not the founder - it HURTS THE POOR PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE FOR MIN WAGE! Just like Chick Filet or Take Back Wall St or whatever. THINK MAN! It hurts no one but the poor people who work there! Your friends, your neighbors....your obviously retired(?) "enjoying life". Give those people who want what you want the chance to do the same. I get your point but it's misdirected! Please...reconsider!
And it's the founder...it's a public company....your hurting pension funds that own that stock (union people!) and regular joes who own that stock!....I'm telling you...hate the player but not the game man! please!
You mean the 90 year old co-founder (Bernie Marcus) who retired from Home Depot in 2002 and has not had a business relationship with in almost 20 years?
I think boycotting Home Depot - who employs half a million people - based on a decision from a feeble minded man is silly.
@splishsplash support with some contributions, but this administration is something totally different, and he donated millions. One report has him.as the MAJOR supporter. I am not anti industry or corporations, but rolling back rules to protect workers through changes in labor laws and relaxing controls over polluters or relaxing FDA role in assuring safe medications is supporting corporate evil activity.
I dislike Donald Trump and his posse as much as the next person BUT penalizing good honest people - who work at Home Depot - is NOT (in my opinion) a rational decision. What the boycotts are doing is jeopardizing these individual's jobs and ability to support their families.
I think this bares repeating - Most business owners support Republican politicians based on their history of tax breaks for the wealthy. You would be hard pressed to find one major business who has not directly or in directly contributed to a Republican.

I could not agree with you more. We need to control contributions and get rid of lobbyists - once and for all.
@splishsplash as far ask am concerned, one of the worst thing that happened in the past 5 years was the SCOTUS decision about Citizen United! That has totally corrupted the electoral process!
you have to have everybody in the USA boycott the store - then boycott it for about a month - But I absolutely think Trump is doing an amazing job, he is such a success and a great man.
You may not agree with his politics, but boycotting Home Depot will do nothing except cost some hourly worker their jobs. Home Depot cofounder Bernie Marcus has a plan for how to spend his fortune, he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After the 90-year-old billionaire dies, 80 to 90% of his total wealth will go to his foundation to build centers to help veterans with disabilities around the country, fund medical research, and provide care for children with autism.
The Atlanta-based billionaire has a net worth of $5.9 billion, down from its peak of $10 billion in September 2018, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Marcus and his wife, Billi, signed The Giving Pledge in 2010. He has already donated $2 billion to more than 300 charities, according to The Washington Post
Dude is like 90 years old and isn't involved with the company. A boycott might hurt his stock position some, but he'll never even feel it - and it will probably recover even before he dies. This whole thing is completely pointless.
he hasn't been involved in the day to day business of Home Depot in years. yes he still hold stock but his fortune is going to good causes when he dies. can't you stupid fucking libtards stop making everything about Trump
@MarmeeMarch Less than a hundred years, but a long time. Tbh I wasn't even around when someone got greedy, that was back in '79. Ever since then, it seems like the company's been trading hands ever few years.
Last few years it's been like a nicer Lowe's but that was fine by me.
I frequent Home Depot and will continue to do so. Great store lots of the kinds of products and services I need. I get a chuckle every time I am there and get asked where a certain product is kept. I usually go there in my visibility shirts and jackets so people assume I work there.
@samueltyler2 Could be. The parking lot is always full at Home Depot. Loews has some cars in the lot. Rona and Home Hardware is almost always empty parking lot. The Home Depot store near my home is well run so that might make a big difference.
For what it's worth: https://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cid=n00009638 You think it's only Trump that gets backing like this? Get real, all politicians kneel at the altar of DONATIONS!
