I Lack A Close Relationship With My Father

I will call my father today and wish him a Happy Father’s Day. I will do this because my mother raised me to have a sense of responsibility, not because he has ever been a real father to me.

I lived the majority of my life with him not in it at all. He got in touch, finally, about 3 or 4 years ago, now that he is old and very ill. I’m not sorry he did, because I got to meet my brothers, and have developed a great bond with one of them.

So I will call today, because I am the type of person who will do the right thing, even if he never was.
