Charter Schools and their Enemies

Why can't kids in the inner cities get a decent education? Charter Schools used to be a medium cost choice for parents who couldn't afford private schools, but did not want to have to send their kids to public schools with horrible records, tenured teachers who couldn't be fired, and extremely low records of kids going on to college.

Dr. Thomas Sowell of Stanford University's Hoover Institute shocked me when I heard him say that powerful public school teachers unions in California are deliberately trying to destroy Charter Schools, because they are the competition!

50,000 inner city kids are on waiting lists to get in to Charter Schools, and some genius in government put the head of the teachers union in CHARGE of the rules for Charter Schools, which resulted in quality and standards plummeting, so that now, some Charter schools with previously stellar records are WORSE than the public schools, if that is even possible.

In some states, empty school buildings that could be used by Charter schools are being razed to the ground so that Charter schools can't take money away from Unions .

They need to close every charter school run by Gulen. He was exposed on 60 minutes as having sponsored terrorism around the world & then Bill Clinton invited him here to set up charter schools in the USA. He has a great number of them, uses parents & students to work a great number of fund-raisers in addition to the money he gets from the governments for each student enrolled. They also love to try to pull the students into their sect of Islam during off-campus events. We enrolled the boy in one in Oklahoma City & then two days after we handed in all the paperwork someone on Twitter posted a story about Gulen & his link to terrorist activities. I started Googling & found that he was running the charter schools under a variety of names. I looked at the list and there was the school that the boy was enrolled in. The very next day we took back the enrollment. When I was filling out forms I saw dozens and dozens of fundraisers, everything you could possibly think of for fund-raising for a school. And they expect the students & parents to do the hard work & then siphon the money off for nefarious activities. And never thought anything about a mosque being located about 2 blocks down the highway.

@cherokeepatti Of course not. But are ALL Charter schools in large cities where they are so desperately needed run by this terrorist collaborator?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I don’t think so, they have other charter schools but most are not specializing in math & sciences.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti MOST are not even allowed to expand when there is a 50,000 student waiting list to get in.

LA county teachers union wants charter schools banned and home schooling made against the law. Teachers unions are nothing more than for job placement.
4meAndyou · F
@jackson55 I suspect they have become far more. Teachers unions are now preventing children in the United States from receiving an education from any other source than from public schools. Excellence in education should be the goal of public schools.

Instead, public school teachers have sunk into the same morass of politics and mediocrity as the V.A. Tenure is part of the problem. Once tenure is achieved, public school teachers may rest on their laurels, ping the posts that are required and neglect the rest.

Vicious, and fighting for funds, teachers unions in California and places similar have outlawed charter schools altogether.

Once again the children are suffering. So sick of the way society cares so little for the children.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi Teachers Unions were exempted from anti-trust laws a long time ago. Congress could change that. Maybe we should pray for an all Republican House and Senate so that we can turn this situation around.

@Stereoguy When the GOVERNMENT puts the CORRUPT head of the teachers union in charge of making all the rules for Charter schools, who are their competition, it's like putting Twitter in charge of the rules for Facebook.
